Treating Type 1 Diabetes

Many people with type 1 diabetes take two types of insulin—a basal (long-acting insulin) and a bolus (rapid-acting or mealtime insulin)— to closely mimic the body’s natural basal-bolus insulin patterns.

Tresiba® is a basal insulin taken once daily that provides blood sugar management for a full 24 hours.

A mealtime, or bolus, insulin is taken when you eat to help limit the rise (or spike) in blood sugar that happens at mealtimes.

Tresiba® is taken once daily and has been proven to provide 24-hour blood sugar management for powerful A1C reduction in studies for:

  • Children with T1D
  • Adults with T1D

We understand that when you are first diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, the thought of injecting can be scary. Tresiba® FlexTouch® is recommended for use with the NovoFine® Plus 32G Tip, one of the shortest and thinnest needles available.

NovoFine® Plus 32G is designed for less pain. In a study, a majority of people using 32G Tip needles experienced little or no pain.

aIn-use Tresiba® can be kept at room temperature (up to 86°F), away from direct heat and light, or refrigerated (36°F to 46°F) for up to 8 weeks.

The Tresiba® vial allows you to dose in half-unit increments, which may be helpful if your child is taking a small dose of Tresiba®.

Are You Using an Insulin Pump?

If you or your child is currently using an insulin pump, it is recommended to have backup insulin in case the pump malfunctions or you just need a break. Having a Tresiba® FlexTouch® pen on hand is a good way to be prepared for times off the pump and reassured in case of emergency.
